A game of golf at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Resort is not simply a game. It’s an Experience.
You begin at the resort, where a handcrafted mahogany boat whisks your party across Lake Coeur d’Alene to the course. Hand your bags to your personal caddie for care. Perhaps you’d like to warm up at the over-water driving range before tee time, whacking floating balls into the lake?
If you’re feeling a little stiff in the shoulders, don’t forget to seek out the complimentary sports massage. Don’t worry, the award-winning staff will find you when tee time arrives.
Your golf cart will be waiting. (Don’t worry about taking a moment to caress those smooth mahogany dashboards, everyone else does.) And you set off over lush grass as smooth as velvet, enjoying the fresh mountain breeze and the vibrant red of the geraniums.
The par 71 course is designed around four distinct areas: a forested ridge, gently rolling woodlands, a trout stream, and Lake Coeur d’Alene. Each hole offers five tees to suit a variety of playing levels. Don’t worry if all the fresh air makes you hungry — lunch will be delivered to the ninth green.
And we haven’t even mentioned the feature that makes Coeur d’Alene Golf Resort famous — the floating green! The 14th hole lies on an island entirely surrounded by water. You travel from the tee to the green by boat.
All this doesn’t make for a cheap game of golf, but “Stay and Play” packages are surprisingly affordable. And anyway, you’ll want to stay, to spend more time soaking up the beautiful setting of Rockies views and crystal-blue mountain lake.
