April 20, 2015 by

Forest Dunes

The Forest Dunes Golf Club is situated on 500 acres of heavily wooded land inside the Huron National Forest.

The parkland-style classic course designed by British Open Champion, Tom Weiskopt, includes modern enhancements and today has a reputation for challenging for golfers of all skill levels.

“Forest Dunes replicates classic style and emulates a risk/reward involvement on most every hole. I consider this golf course to be in the top three which I have ever been involved in the United States.” – Tom Weiskopt

Forest Dunes Challenging Landscape

Forest Dunes includes an intriguing set of natural challenges from open meadows, to hardwoods, to rugged native dunes, to scruffy sand areas mingled with water features and century-old red and jack pines.

The front nine offer parkland style holes which roam through corridors of pines framed with elaborate bunkering and sandy waste areas on the sidelines. The back nine grows a little more challenging with exposed rugged native sandy areas and scruffy underbrush bordering the fairways and greens.

The 16th hole measures more than 200 yards and challenges golfers to carry over a rustic dune area. The 17th hold is really designed to test your skills measuring just 302 yards that flow through spectacular native sand dunes bordered by fescue grasses.

The last hole offers a challenging 560 plus yards and plays through a rugged dune area with a lake lining up and around the left side.
