Amelia Island

Amelia Island Florida is an ideal sub-tropical getaway for those who like a tranquil setting that still offers things to do.

The downtown Fernandina Beach features boutique shopping and a wide range of mouthwatering restaurants. Many provide outdoor seating where guests can sip a cocktail, try the local fresh fish, and enjoy the sunset.

Along with fishing, beach combing, and swimming, visitors have a whole host of things to do.

Horseback on the Beach

How often have you seen people in the movies riding horseback on the beach and wished you could do something like that? A visit to Amelia Island Florida will provide that opportunity.

Visitors can make arrangements for a guided beach tour with the Kelly Seahorse Ranch.

River Cruises and Charters

Get in touch with nature up close and personal with a cruise that takes you along historic stretches of beach, salt marshes, and wilderness beaches.

Experience wildlife including: dolphins swimming in the wake of your boat, egrets, herons, spoonbills, osprey, and possibly sea turtles and manatees. For history buffs, there’s a Civil War era fort along the way, too.

Beginners can take a kayak tour guided by a professional naturalist. These tours are scheduled to go out with the tide. With pre-trip instruction, the tours last about three hours. Most tours break about midway for a snack and a swim.

It’s a great way to enjoy the Florida weather, and learn about the eco system and local history.

Bike Eco Tour

If you want a break from the sunshine, take a guided bike eco tour through the ancient maritime forest. Ride leisurely beneath the Spanish moss draped from the upland tree hammocks.

There’s no better way to learn about Florida’s diverse ecosystems.

Tour the 19th Century Fort Clinch

History lovers won’t want to miss a tour of Fort Clinch. This 19th century fort is well preserved, and stocked with period re-enactors that make garrison life real to guests.

Amelia Island Golf

If you’re the type who’d rather get their exercise with a golf club in hand, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation features 54 championship holes, the Golf Club of Amelia Island has 18 holes, and the Fernandina Beach Golf Club offers another 18.

Amelia Island Florida is a hot destination offering up nice weather and plenty to do. Plan ahead to get the accommodations you desire.
