If you’ve always dreamed of staying in a castle, but don’t have time or the inclination to travel overseas, the Oheka Castle Hotel and Estate on Long Island offers just what you’re looking for.

This historic castle was built in the 1920s and was the second largest residence in the U.S. at the time. Today it offers stunning chateau-style charm just an hour outside of New York City.

23 Acres of European-Style Luxury

The original inspiration for the Oheka Castle was the Chateaux in France, which explains the estate’s charming European style-ambience that is unparalleled elsewhere here in the states.

Today, the Oheka Castle Hotel and Estate features 23 acres of verdant, manicured gardens, a fitness center, and a restaurant with fine dining on the menu at the exclusive Cold Spring Country Club.

Luxurious touches extend to the 32 uniquely decorated rooms and stately common spaces. Each room offers a peaceful view of the grounds and is equipped with either a king or queen bed draped with Frette 100% Italian-Egyptian cotton linen, down pillows, and duvets.

A variety of elegantly furnished rooms are available to guests starting with 11 Chateau Rooms designed after the French Chateaus of France at $395 a night. Prices go up from there with additional rooms and suites bearing names inspired by the past.

The Whitney Rooms are named after businessman Harry Payne Whitney who was a sportsman and patron of the arts. The Gatsby Suites are inspired by the era known as the Gilded Age.

The other suites include the Fairbanks Suites, Carnegie Suite, and the top of the line at $1,095 a night is the Olmstead Suite which features two balconies overlooking the reflecting pools, fountains, and walking paths. Along with this historic elegance, guests enjoy a blend of modern amenities like clocks with iPod and MP3 player, complementary snack baskets and bottled water, and wireless Internet.

Reservations can be made online or by phone. For more information, check out their website.
