Escape the Crowds: Verana Resort

February 25, 2013 by

Want to get away from it all? It might be possible to let your mind completely escape at Verana Spa and Resort.

To get here, you’ll fly into Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Then you’ll drive south until there are no more beaches reachable by car. Take a short boat ride further down the coast to Yelapa where a mule will be waiting to take you and your belongings to your private getaway.

There are only 8 guest rooms here, each with it’s own unique design. Stay in the Palapa (pictured) to be close to nature, or stay in the chic Studio room for a less primitive vacation.

No matter which room you choose to stay in, plan to have your breath taken away each morning when you wake up to stunning views of the Bay of Banderas. Once you catch your breath, you can trek down to the beach for a lazy afternoon of reading by the water.

For those who require a little more action, you can book a Jungle Trek, Horseback Riding, Sea Kayaking, or enroll yourself in a yoga workshop or even cooking classes.

Verana opens it’s doors from November through June and rates can run between $175-$480/night. You can also add an optional meal plan for $95/person.

That sounds REALLY remote! How was the food?

They use local farms for their proteins, local gardens for their fruits and vegetables, and buy their fish from local fisherman – almost daily. It’s delicious!
