Find Luxury Camping with GlampingHub

June 6, 2012 by

You love the great outdoors, but aren’t interested in eating baked beans from a can or bedding down on the ground in a sleeping bag. Lucky for you, glamping (short for glamorous camping) is a trend on the rise, with options popping up all over the world.

And a new website, GlampingHub.com, is helping travelers sort through the world of unique luxury camping alternatives.

GlampingHub offers a range of accommodations, such as tents, yurts, cabins, and other one-of-a-kind dwellings. And while the site has its fair share of $500+/night accommodations (the site’s most expensive property is the Four Seasons Golden Triangle Thailand, at $2,817 – $3,121 a night with a two night minimum stay) it also has a nice range of less expensive options that let you experience a place in a new way.

For example, one of the lodgings on offer is a pipe hotel in Tepoxtlan, Mexico, which is exactly what it sounds like: guests actually crawl into a pipe and sleep. Each “room” is fitted with a queen bed, fan and under-bed storage. For only $26 a night, it could be an adventure worth having, as long as you’re not claustrophobic.

And the offerings are all over the map—literally. Stay in a treehouse in Turkey, a pod hotel in Switzerland or teepee in the Canadian Rockies.

But GlampingHub is purely a tool for perusing your options. Reservations are made off-site, between the guest and the owner, and GlampingHub offers little to no consumer protections. Another drawback stems from the fact that the site is still in it’s early stages, meaning offerings for certain countries can be sparse.

The site is working to grow their listings, and we’re looking forward to seeing the new additions. Even if we aren’t planning a trip to any of the locales any time soon, there’s just something daydream-worthy about gauzy curtains, plush bedding, and nature as your living room.
