The Many Faces of Ion Adventure

When it comes to the popularity of the Ion Adventure Hotel it really is about location. The hotel offers the perfect base for easy access to all the essential attractions of “the land of fire and ice.”

Hiking: The Hengill area showcases Iceland´s natural beauty including stunning landscapes that offer geothermal areas with hot springs, craters and rivers and lakes. The area offers several half-day or whole-day hiking trips available to hotel quests.

In Reykjadalur a geothermal river melds with a fresh water river and becomes a lovely natural spring where hikers can relax and bath, too.

Diving in Silfra Frissure: The Silfra Frissure is a popular diving site for adventure seekers. This fissure is the crack that runs between the American and Urasian continent and consists of 3 sections of crystal clear water: Silfra Hall, the Silfra Cathera and the Silfra Lagoon.

For the most daring of divers, it is possible to dive through Silfra and into Þingvellir Lake.

Sólheimajökull

Guests have the opportunity to visit this magnificent ancient glacier. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the crevasse-riddled outlet glacier with it’s remarkable ice formations, sinkholes and jagged ridges.

For an extra measure of excitement, the glacier’s ice wall provides the opportunity to try your hand at ice climbing. Guides will provide all the tools you need.

For those who are a little less adventurous, you can take a guided Super Jeep Safari on top of Langjökull Glacier or take advantage of a number of other glacial tours offered throughout the year.

I’ve been hearing more about Iceland lately. How warm does it ever get there? Not into visiting when it’s still below freezing.
