La Maison du Pujol B&B in South Of France

April 18, 2011 by

La Maison du Pujol is a small bed and breakfast, with only 5 rooms, located in the South of France.

Philippe Phi, architect and designer, has renovated an old winery into this boutique hotel. It has a magnificent interior with design classics and vintage letters, found on the exterior and interior of the hotel. The hotel is a plush and sensual setting, Philippe Phi describing the experience as “a dream come true.”

The hotel is surrounded by Cabardès and Minervois vineyards, 10 minutes from Carcassonne but light years away from the bland, run-of-the-mill décor sometimes found in country hotels in the south of France. La Maison du Pujol offers luxury bed and breakfast plus evening meals as required. Architect-designer Philippe has put his stamp firmly on this lively property to create a simple, roomy lodging with clean, contemporary lines and some remarkable touches (the previous stable, manger still intact, now serves as the sitting room).

The bedrooms are comfortable but uncluttered; the décor is sober (exposed stone, wooden floorboards painted white), livened up with splashes of color. The furniture is a happy hodgepodge of junk yard finds, design classics and modern pieces, shabby-chic meets contemporary cool.
