As the first resort built along Hawaii’s Kohala Coast back in 1965, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel has welcomed generations of guests. At that time, Laurance S. Rockerfeller knew it was a great beach and envisioned an exclusive and expensive resort along the shore that offered golf and exceptional dining.

Today, after a $150 million repair and renovation, it once again stands as a landmark of luxury on the Big Island’s golden coast as it gets ready to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2015 with the theme, “What was, is.”

Savings for the Average Wallet

If the $50,000 price tag is a little too steep for your wallet, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is also offering specials throughout the year starting with the Winter Escape vacation package that features a fourth night for free from January 4 – March 31, 2015. Savings will depend on choice of accommodation as resort credit ranges from $300 to $1000 a night with a starting rate of $579 per night for rooms with a golf vista.

Different specials will run each quarter of 2015. From early January through March, those staying for three days or longer will be able to enjoy unlimited golf and tennis for $150 a day. A complimentary buffet breakfast for two is also included.
