Mondrian SoHo Hotel in New York City

May 17, 2011 by

Downtown Manhattan is home to Morgans Hotel Group’s third Mondrian and debut property, Mondrian SoHo.

Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, the creative thinker behind the Mondrian Los Angeles, was chosen to create Mondrian SoHo in partnership with the company’s distinguished design team. His design for the hotel draws inspiration from Jean Coucteau’s 1946 romantic French fantasy film “La Belle et la Bête.” A powdery French blue color assortment unites the hotel, from the custom carpet to the jewel-box quest rooms.

Mondrian SoHo offers the guest a variety of rooms to choose from, from the Standard King and Queen to the Deluxe Double Double to the Superior City View Queen and King bed and Deluxe Suite King Bed. Eleven varieties of rooms are available, assuring that guests will find the perfect match.

The hotel has 270 rooms, including four suites (each featuring a terrace) and a grand Penthouse on the 25th Floor with dramatic one-of-a-kind views of lower Manhattan. Every room includes an iPad with virtual concierge program with one touch access to hotel services, this includes in-room dining, housekeeping, wake up calls, valet parking/bellman, internet, hotel information, transportation options, maps and directions.

Amenities offered at Mondrian SoHo include: head to toe daily treatments with Peppermint Shampoo, Cilantro Hair Condition, Bergamot Body Wash, Vitamin b5 Body Moisturizer, and Rum Soap. The minibar in each room includes a selection of candy from Economy Candy, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and River Keeper Water.

Noriega-Ortiz’s dream-like theme continues into the design of Chef Sam Talbot’s highly awaited sustainable seafood restaurant, Imperial No. Nine. The restaurant’s garden-inspired space includes a dramatic glass ceiling, crystal chandelier collection, potted plants, natural ficus trees, and over-sized hand-blown glass sculpture centerpiece by acclaimed artist Beth Lipman.

With Mondrian’s design, Noriega stimulates the imagination and invites guests into a fantasy that offers an escape. The hotel has a gripping atmosphere that captures the dazzling charm and romance of New York.
