Billionaire Richard Branson is adding another property to his luxury travel portfolio: the Mahali Mazuri safari camp in Kenya.
Slated to open in 2013, the retreat is located in the Motorogi Conservancy in the Maasai Mara ecosystem of Kenya, just 150 miles west of Nairobi. The property will boast 12 tents, with a total capacity of 24 guests at any one time.
The lodgings will no doubt have luxurious offerings (word is, an infinity pool and spa will be on-site), but the real draw here is the ability to spy game, such as wildebeest, elephants, zebra, lions, giraffe, hippos and cheetahs from the premises.
Itineraries will include daily game drives, tours of local villages, and guided walks through the 13,500 hectacres of the Motorogi and Olare Orok Conservancies.
Prices for the Mahali Mzuri, which means “beautiful place” in Swahili, will start at $580 per person per night, based on double occupancy. The price includes more than the cost of your tent, with meals, drinks and daily games included.
