Igloo Hotel

The Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel offers a unique experience on many levels. The Igloo is made entirely of snow and ice – even the beds. Your drink at the ice-bar will also be served in a handmade glass of ice.

The décor includes ice sculptures and temperatures range between -4 and -7 degrees. Guests stay warm while sleeping on reindeer hides inside sleeping bags designed to keep you warm in temps as low as -30 degrees.

The hotel offers 30 bedrooms, suites, and an ice-chapel as well as the ice-bar and several lounges.

Amenities

If you’re wondering about showers and other conveniences, the hotel offers these amenities in a service center located next to the hotel. Here you’ll find a restaurant, toilets, changing rooms, showers and a sauna. It also features 2 outdoor hot tubs, meetings facilities, and a souvenir shop.

Things to Do

The Igloo Hotel is usually open from January until mid-April, weather permitting. While you’re there you’ll find unique opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Snowmobile Safari

Professional guides offer snowmobile Safaris for groups. While what you see on these safaris depends somewhat on the weather, the scenery on the Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau is magnificent.

Safaris of different lengths are available with the shortest excursions only lasting a few hours and the longest several days. These long safaris include overnight accommodations.

Dog Sledding

A dog sledding farm is located nearby on a small piece of land in the middle of the frozen Alta River. Here guests can meet the dogs, hug the puppies, and learn how to put on dog sledding gear before they drive their own dog sled. It’s a great way to experience the Northern Lights and experience the Alta Canyon.

Gorgeous! I’d love to see a place like this at least once! Maybe in the middle of a scorching hot summer?
