Taprobane Island

Taprobane Island is a privately owned two-and-a-half acre island off the coast of Shri Lanka that offers a tropical fantasy setting with nothing between it and the South Pole.

The island offers accommodations at a neo-Palladian mansion that was built in 1920s. This five-bedroom home has hosted kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, writers and other eccentrics, and now guests looking for a secluded getaway can share in this rich history.

The Taprobane Island Mansion features five en-suite bedrooms, spacious living areas, balconies, verandas, tropical gardens and an infinity pool. During your stay a staff of five, including your own private chef, are ready to meet your every need.

The sleeping arrangements for four of the bedrooms include four-poster double beds with the fifth bedroom offering twins. In all, the mansion sleeps up to 10 people. Mosquito nets drape from the four poster beds and overhead fans create a balmy breeze to keep you comfortable.

The octagonal house enjoys cool, white terrazzo floors, high wooden ceilings, and each bedroom enjoys a sea view. Double rooms each have their own private terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean.

When you’re not in your room, the mansion offers wrap around verandas and terraces that provide seclusion perfect for reading, sunbathing, meditation, or just taking in the stunning natural surroundings. While these common areas are perfect for alone time, they are also big enough for everyone to gather socially, too.

Wow, that looks wonderful. As if Sri Lanka wasn’t exotic enough, this place on a remote island sounds even nicer. Oh to have an endless supply of money to travel everywhere!
