The Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA

June 22, 2010 by

The Iron Horse Hotel is a 102-room, 4-star, luxury boutique hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Situated at the crossroads of Milwaukee’s historic 5th Ward and Latin Quarter, this hotel resides in a wonderfully transformed 100-year old warehouse. The concept for the Iron Horse Hotel was to provide the hotel industry’s first upscale hotel that catered for both business guests and motorcycle enthusiasts alike.

Accommodations at The Iron Horse Hotel come in Room and Loft-style Suites, categorized as Urban Classic, Custom Deluxe, Corner Alcove and Premium Lofts. The Urban Classic Rooms are spacious and chic urban-styled guest rooms that combine functional space with sophisticated design. Featuring King-size or twin Queen-size beds, these rooms incorporate large windows with exposed brickwork and wood timbers to compliment the contemporary modern furnishings.

Custom Deluxe rooms are oversized guest rooms that are positively suite size by industry standards (approximately 450 square feet) and uniquely configured to take full advantage of the architectural features of this historic building.

Corner Alcove rooms are spacious corner guest rooms featuring all the style and furnishings of a cool downtown condo. Offering a generous living area with sofa, lounge chair and in-room dining, Corner Alcove rooms are also available in a two-room connecting suite configuration.

Premium Lofts are top-floor rooms that take full advantage of the architectural characteristics of the hotel’s 100-year-old warehouse building, with their towering 12-foot, all-wood ceilings, exposed brick walls and beams, and stunning eyebrow windows overlooking the city.

The Iron Horse Hotel’s fitness room offers the latest equipment: two sport treadmills, two stationary bikes, a stepper/stair climber and an elliptical trainer. The gym, located discretely in the center of the 4th floor, has two 42″ LCD flat screen TVs and includes open matted space for stretching, yoga, free weights and stability balls. This guests-only 24-hour facility includes a restroom, towels and refreshments. Because wellness is a part of fitness, the studio features two private serene treatment rooms with a variety of on-call spa services.

Dining at The Iron Horse Hotel comes via Smyth Restaurant, one of Milwaukee’s most critically-acclaimed restaurants. Guests can relax and enjoy the rustic decor and menu that combines american cuisine with creative seasonal variations.

The Yard is a seasonal outdoor lounge and bar, serving seasonal outdoor fare and drinks from the comfy lounge that features sectional seating, a huge outdoor bar made from reclaimed original fire doors, and colorful shade sails allowing for just the right amount of sun and shade.

Branded delivers a classic Milwaukee bar experience. Located adjacent to The Iron Horse Hotel’s two-story atrium lobby lounge, Branded promises a mix of locals and travelers from business suits to biker leathers and offers some of the best bar food in Milwaukee.

The Library at The Iron Horse Hotel is an inviting breakfast room offering communal tables to spread out and read the paper, open up your laptop, hold an informal meeting or strike up a conversation among fellow travelers.

The Iron Horse Hotel offers meeting and event facilities that can cater anything from weddings to corporate functions.  The hotel’s lower level meeting space, The Gallery, home to rotating original works by Wisconsin artists, offers a refuge from the mundane confines of more traditional conference rooms. An ample pre-function space with original fire doors and a glass and steel stairway creates a memorable staging area for special events and receptions. For corporate retreats and off-site meetings, the 5th Floor Executive Suite offers the 425-square-foot War Room, complete with an expansive conference table for 14 and complete AV/IT capabilities. Adjacent to the War Room is the 425-square-foot Sand Box, ideal for dining, socializing, brainstorming and breakout sessions. The suite includes an outer work station, space for an executive assistant and private bathroom.

Located a short walk over the bridge from the hotel is the Harley-Davidson Museum. This 130,00-square-foot museum delivers the true Harley-Davidson experience, where motorcycle enthusiasts and history buffs alike will find rare artifacts and dramatic displays that tell the story of the Motor Company’s rich heritage in Milwaukee. A testimony to these legendary bikes and the people who build them, the museum is one of the most unique destinations in the U.S.

Offering a truly unique, and very stylish, experience, The Iron Horse Hotel sets the standard for boutique hotels. Offering a blend of elegant and comfortable furnishings, impeccable service and a prime location, it is perfect for both business and leisure visitors to Milwaukee and a must-stay experience for the ChicTraveler.
