Sea Island is found along the Southern Georgian coast, where guests enjoy a host of outdoor activities from golf, to kayaking, to horseback riding, fishing and more.

The Sea Island Resort has welcomed guests since its start in 1928 and the opening of the Cloister. Since then guests have returned again and again to enjoy the legendary elegance of this secluded coastal retreat.

The Seaside Course is rated number 4 out of the 75 Best Golf Resorts in the U.S. The Sea Island Golf Club features three outstanding 18-hole championship courses in all.

  • The Seaside Course: A links course that offers stunning ocean vistas. This course is home to the PGA Tour’s McGladrey Classic.
  • The Plantation Course: Golfers play through marsh and forest on this course that winds through marsh and forest.
  • The Retreat Course: This course offers an exceptionally staged, challenging design developed by Davis Love III and Mark Love.

Water Sports to Enjoy

Sea Island Resort’s coastal location lends it to a wide range of water sports. The Sea Island Beach Club has three swimming pools, but also offers 5 miles of private beach. Water sports for guests to enjoy include:

  • Kayaking with shore lunch: Guests have the opportunity to kayak to the island’s southern tip where they take part in an educational beach walk with the resort’s residential naturalist followed by a private picnic lunch.
  • Sunset Kayak Trip: This opportunity offers guests a chance to enjoy the sunset from their kayak.
  • Family Salt Marsh Kayaking: This kayaking trip explores the tidal grasslands behind the barrier islands and is a great event for the whole family.
  • Stand-Up Paddleboard Clinics: Standup paddleboards are a fun way to enjoy the coastline from a new vantage point. Trained staff teaches guests how to stand on these small boards and paddling the surf. Ocean and marsh clinics offered weekly.

Along with the above activities certified instructors also offer swimming lessons, snorkeling, and scuba classes.

Other Outdoor Activities

Guests of the Sea Island Resort can enjoy a number of nature activities including tours, island bike rides, horseback riding on the beach, or they can take part in the nature programs held on Saturday mornings. These programs offer an up-close opportunity to discover and learn about native species including animal and plant life.
