If you’re looking for a unique hotel experience, the Swedes offer just that. Accommodations at the Tree Hotel in Sweden offer a contemporary design, in a scenic location amid majestic trees and unspoiled nature, but it is unlike any other get-away destination you’ll experience.

You see, the rooms are actually in the trees. Talk about a view!

Brittas Pensionate

Tree Hotel guests first check in at the historic Brittas Pensionate. This quaint yellow building was built in 1931.

Walking through the door ushers guests to another time and place. The décor includes items from the past such as a hallway lined with vintage wooden skis, old brown suitcases, a life-size porcelain doll dressed in a 1930s nurse’s uniform and more.

The wood-burning fireplace adds the perfect touch of ambiance in an authentic 1930-1950 dining setting. Brittas serves Tree Hotel guests breakfast lunch and dinner, plus there is a bar and an area where people can hang out to watch TV or access the Internet.

Tree Hotel Rooms

Traditional hotels generally offer suites, and a variety of more standard rooms. The Tree Hotel in Sweden offers something out-of-the-ordinary. While they have a total of 24 rooms planned, right now only five tree-rooms are ready for guests.

Each tree-room is unique and a creation of one of Scandinavia’s leading architects. Among the Tree Hotel’s amenities guests enjoy a sauna situated out in the woods (not up in the trees). The sauna accommodates up to 12 people.

Bird's Nest

Bird’s Nest

Mirror Cube: The Mirror Cube is literally a hideaway in the trees, as its mirrored walls reflect its surrounding rendering it almost invisible.

Cabin: The Cabin is designed to sleep two. This is one cabin constructed without the felling of a single tree. The Cabin is suspended by four tree trucks.

Bird’s Nest: The Bird’s nest gets its name from looking like a bird’s nest on the outside, while inside it features a spacious, modern interior with separate bedrooms, a bathroom and living area.

UFO: The UFO room looks like a flying saucer on the outside and accommodates four (2 adults and 2 children) with separate bedrooms, bathroom, and living area.

Blue Cone: The Blue Cone is a traditional wooden structure with three foundations in the ground. Guests enjoy the feeling of height, but feel stable and secure.

The cube and the bird nest look really amazing from the outside; they blend in so well you wouldn’t know what they were. Very cool. An interesting change from a basic hotel room!
