Unique Stay: Hotel Greif

May 30, 2013 by

Hotel Greif, located in Bolzano, Italy, is a rare find among the plethora of 4 star hotels. It’s a designer hotel, caught between tradition and modernism.

The hotel has 33 rooms, brought together by the hotel owner, a Viennese architect, and 33 separate contemporary artists. Each room was designed to convey “a sense of sensual pleasure, to create a room emanating beauty, and discreet eroticism.”

In true European fashion, each room has a particular attention to detail that heightens your senses. The beds are lined with custom designed Italian sheets, the windows adorned with silk linens, and Iranian carpets lie on beautiful, richly colored wood floors.

The rooms are relaxing, and refreshing at the same time.

Breakfast is served in your room so you can enjoy the Italian sheets just a bit longer. You can get lunch and dinner at Laurin Restaurant, just a few steps away in Hotel Greifs’ sister hotel, and cocktails are served from 4p-1a at the Grifoncino Cocktail Bar.

When you’re ready to explore Bolzano, rent a bike from the front desk and set off towards the South Tyrol hills where Germany and Italy collide.

Spend a day shopping in Bolzano, ride the Renon Cablecar for jaw dropping views of the valley and the Dolomites beyond, visit the many nearby castles, and finish with a traditional dinner in town.

Visit Hotel Greif to view the 33 rooms and for booking information.
