Vila Bled is situated in a quiet area of the Slovenian Alpine on the shore of Lake Bled and offers a unique destination history buffs will enjoy.
Once the summer residence for the Yugoslav royal family, and the former residence of the Yugoslavian President Tito, today, it is a four-star small luxury hotel surrounded by parkland. Guests enjoy direct lake access as well as hospitality, comfort, timeless elegance, gastronomy and an unforgettable experience.
In all, this landmark hotel offers 31 comfortable rooms and suites. Of those, 23 are spacious suites furnished in 1950’s décor.
The 7 classic double rooms also feature balconies overlooking the lake. The hotel also has one presidential suite which should be booked far in advance.
The hotel Vila Bled is about 15-20 minute walk to the town of Bled.
Vila Bled is full of history. This was one of Tito’s favorite places and still has some of the original furniture that belonged him. The conference rooms and library still carry his name, and an historic mural still decorates the walls of the former ballroom. However, it also is not air conditioned.
The on-site Café Belvedere offers diners the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The cafe serves a buffet breakfast, and for those who want eggs for breakfast, they can be ordered via the waiter.
The cafe is open for lunch and dinner, too, and offers the perfect setting for those who want to enjoy a stunning view of the lake. For those who don’t want to order a meal, it’s also a great place to sit and sip coffee and, while there, their famous Creme slices won’t disappoint either.
Other amenities include a private beach, free parking, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Plus the hotel has a few mountain bikes available for guests to use as well as a row boat which can be taken out on to the lake for an hour at no charge. For those who enjoy hiking, the grounds offers a nice trail with more magnificent views.
For history lovers looking for a peaceful location, the hotel Vila Bled is a dream come true. For those who want a room with a view of the lake, it is important to make that request when booking.
