Celebrate Oktoberfest in Helen, Georgia and take in the fall colors at the same time. Helen, Georgia is the third most popular destination in North Georgia, just behind Atlanta and Savannah.

The rugged beauty of this high mountain watershed nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River is a re-creation of an Alpine village. With its cobblestone alleys and old-world towers, it is an ideal setting to celebrate Oktoberfest.

The 42nd Annual Oktoberfest in Helen, Georgia will run from September 13-16. It then closes for a few days and reopens on September 20 and runs through October 28, 2012. Accommodations are available including cabin rentals and bed and breakfast options.

Helen is a village with a mountain heritage and a touch of Bavaria, that offers a unique experience for its visitors, and Oktoberfest, in Helen Georgia, is the largest celebration of the year. This year’s 42nd annual Oktoberfest features all the German music, dancing, food and drinks, you’d expect experience at the Helen Festhalle.

Other Things to Do

The premium festival in Helen is Oktoberfest, but while you’re in Helen in the fall, take in the breathtaking colors as you as you meander along hiking trails or take a tour of the Gold Mines. The Gold Mine tour features gold panning, and a nature walk.

For another must-do option for history lovers and their families, be sure to visit the Museum of the Hills which offers a peek into Helen’s past, and recreates fairy tales and nursery rhymes for the kids.

The Alpine Carriage Company also offers historic information tours and are a great way to relax a little at the same time. Kids like to stop by and see the big draft horses and feed them a carrot. It makes a great photo op!
