Independent films find their home at the Toronto Independent Film Festival each year. This year, the festival runs from September 6-15 with all films being shown at the Toronto Underground Cinema. This film fest features low budget and no-budget films from around the world competing to win titles in the festival’s multiple categories.
With a great indie filmmaking community of its own, Toronto is the perfect place for a film fest of this nature. Undiscovered filmmakers take center stage each day, showing their flicks in front of audiences ranging from casual movie fans to experienced big-time producers.
Short films, documentaries, feature films, animated films and horror films make up the entries of this fest, with a separate screenplay competition taking place simultaneously.
During the festival, filmmakers and festival goers can also attend a number of events that compliment the film showings. These events include social media networking parties and industry discussion panels. This exciting, somewhat low key event is not to be missed for anyone interested in independent films and the hip urban landscape of Toronto.
