Synchronized fireworks set to music on Navy Pier create a spectacular site over Chicago’s Lake Michigan shoreline. While the 2013 fireworks schedule for Navy Pier Fireworks begins again on Memorial Day, a special fireworks event is scheduled for February 28th at 6:00 p.m. to honor Chicago’s legendary Cubs announcer Harry Caray.

Annual Harry Caray Toast and Fireworks

The Navy Pier fireworks on February 28, 2013 will be part of the 15th Annual Worldwide Toast to Harry Caray. This is a tradition that brings fans from around the world together to raise a Budweiser (Harry’s favorite beer), to toast the memory of the beloved announcer who died in February, 1998.

Harry Caray’s Tavern, Navy Pier is this year’s Toast headquarters. Guests watching the fireworks display over Lake Michigan will be given specialized hologram glasses that will transform the fireworks into thousands of Harry face images.

Even though the legendary Harry Caray passed on back in 1998, he has a current Facebook page which is the official source for all “Toast” information.

Over the years since the toast began, over five million fans have taken part in the annual toast. Those who can’t actually make it to Navy Pier, are encouraged to raise a glass to Harry at 7:00 p.m. from wherever you are.
