Laconia Bike Week celebrates its 90th anniversary June 8 – 16, 2013

Summer is the season of bike rallies, and this year the Laconia Bike Week celebrates its 90th anniversary June 8 – 16, 2013. With popular bike rallies in Sturgis, Daytona, and other locations throughout the country, some may not realize that Laconia is “America’s Original Riding Rally.”

Unique Way to Enjoy New Hampshire

The Laconia Bike Week is a unique way to enjoy New Hampshire. The ride originates at the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee and covers 69 square miles. Options include:

Ride to the Sky: This ride up Mt. Washington is a one of-a-kind experience each and every time. The panoramic views are breathtaking as you ride through four different climate zones to the highest point in the Northeast.

Bikers can enjoy a motorcycle-only route on Monday, June 10 (guided tours in auto road vans will also be allowed). If you miss the Monday event, you have another opportunity on Thursday, June 13, for a second Ride to the Sky. Again only motorcycles and guided tours in auto road vans allowed.

For those who arrive before 10:00 a.m., passengers ride the rally for free.

Ride the Seacoast: For those who prefer to travel along the seacoast, a secondary route carries the rally to popular locations including the Laconia Roadhouse, Naswa Resort, Lobster Pound Restaurant, or Patio Garden Restaurant in time to watch the sun set as you enjoy good food, drinks, and live music.

Other Bike Ride Events

The Laconia Bike Week offers plenty to do and see. If you’re up to it, you can join a great cause with the Official Kickoff to Motorcycle Week by joining the 7th Annual Naswa’s Peter Makris Memorial Run. Proceeds from the run benefit the Laconia Fire Department Life Saving Fund, Water Rescue Teams, and Easter Seals NH “Veterans Count” Program.

Daily organized rides take off from Rally Headquarters for those who enjoy riding with a group. To take part, check with Rally Headquarters for details as dozens of guided tours including charity rides and poker runs take place throughout the week.

A full schedule of events is available on the Laconia Bike Week website.
