5 Best Beaches to be during your winter vacation

January 2, 2012 by

It’s winter. You know what that means: the weather is getting colder, the snow will start falling, and you find yourself wishing you were sitting on a beach. A beach vacation, after all, is the best way to help you through the winter. These five beaches are the perfect place to warm up and say goodbye to the cold.

Jericoacoara, in Brazcil, is a beach located 300 kilometers about Fortaleza, state of Ceara, in the municipality of Gijoca (Jijoca of Jericoacoara). Until 1985 it was a plain fishermen village without electricity, roads, telephone or television, lost in between massive white dunes and entirely inaccessible from the rest of the world, until tourism revealed it and it started to be visited. Jericoacoara is located in an area of environmental conservation, since 2002 a National Park, between mobile huge dunes, lakes of gorgeous water, coconut trees, beautiful beaches, with a calm sea and ocean wave, where the connection with nature is powerful, and the beauty of the landscapes extraordinary.

Cala Boix is an fascinating beach due to the dark, almost grey, firm sand that isn’t found anywhere else on Ibiza. The location is very scenic; circled by high cliffs. However this means it’s a sharp decent down concrete steps, past the only beach cafe bar, to reach the sand. So it may prove difficult for those with mobility problems. Once on the sand choose your spot and recline. Cala Boix is a very fashionable place to eat for the locals as the 3 restaurants gathered around the parking area are all famed for their fish dishes. If you want lunch with a view select the restaurant suspended on the cliff top over looking the beach.

Virginia Key Beach is one of the most attractive beaches in South Florida. It’s positioned right off the Rickenbacker Causeway (on both the north and south sides) near the Miami Seaquarium. The site makes for simple access and some areas become crowded, but there are plenty of private spots if you’re willing to discover a bit. It is also the only area beach that allows leashed dogs, so bring yours along for a run along the sand!

Kailua Beach Park is one of Oahu’s most gorgeous beaches with outstanding swimming and wind surfing. The beach is nice, fine sand, ideal for sunbathing and recreational activities. This area is also a first-rate wind surfing destination. Lessons and rental gear can be purchased nearby. Several offshore islands create a lovely environment to this tropical destination. Services and amenities include: lifeguards, sandy beach, picnic areas with tables and pavilion, restrooms, showers, phones, concession stand, and good swimming, wind-surfing, kayaking and body boarding.

The Nicoya Peninsula is estranged from the mainland of Costa Rica by the Gulf of Nicoya and the Tempisque estuary. From its northern base in the arid Guanacaste lowlands the peninsula extends 140 kilometers to the south where the landscape increasingly becomes more damp and mountainous. The most renowned feature of the Peninsula de Nicoya are the beaches. Within the huge span of coastline are countless outstanding beaches with spectacular coastal scenery, and small villages each with its own distinctive charm. Water sports such as surfing, fishing, snorkeling and diving define much of the nature of the villages. Most areas have been discovered by surfers as the pacific side of Costa Rica offers one of the finest stretches of surfing coastline in the world.
