New 7-day Family Tibet Tour

The new 7-day family Tibet tours includes attractions like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, the Barkhor Bazaar, and more, plus opportunities to learn about Tibetan culture and daily life.

  • Day 1: The Tibetan travel guide and driver meets your family tour group at the airport and takes them to the hotel.
  • Day 2: Day 2 is an easy day of walking as the tour visits Jokhang temple and Barkhor Bazaar. In the afternoon, the tour visits the monks at Sera Monastery. This monastery is famous as a place for Buddhist scholarly learning.
  • Day 3: By Day 3, your family group will have acclimatized to the altitude some and will take on about 364 steps up into Potala Palace. There you’ll enjoy stunning views of Lhasa and the surrounding mountains. Inside the palace, some of Tibet’s most important cultural treasures are on display. Following lunch, your group will be taken to another monastery, the Drepung Monastery.
  • Day 4: Day 4 the tour takes in mountains, grasslands, and the holy Nam-tso. Following all the activity, your family will have the opportunity to enjoy the Yangpachen Hot Spring.
  • Day 5: Day 5 includes a trip to Lake Yamdrok, the resting place of early Dalai Lamas, and the town of Gyantse. In Gyantse, the Pelkhor Monastery offers more insights into Tibetan Buddhism and Kumbum Pagoda (a multi-level work of art). Following Tibetan tradition, tour members circle around each level of the pagoda clockwise and stop in numerous rooms to view magnificent paintings and sculptures of Tibetan Buddhist gods.
  • Day 6: The Tibetan tour guide and driver will take your family group to explore the Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama. Following lunch, your group will be driven back to Lhasa with the opportunity to stop along the way to take photos.
  • Day 7: Day 7 takes you back to the airport.

    This sounds like a nice cultural trip but I assume the kids in your family would have to on the older side to enjoy this properly. No little kid would enjoy that many temples.
