New Zealand is known for its majestic landscape, but it is also a popular destination for extreme sports enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies.

The sport? Actually it’s an attraction and sport rolled into one called ledge jumping and visitors will find it in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Ledge Jumping Not for the Faint Hearted

A Skyline Gondola carries jumpers up to the top of Bob’s Peak where they can choose to lunge down concrete tracks, hike mountain-top trails, or jump from The Ledge Bungy.

Along with one big rush, this attraction, which is located 400 meters over Queenstown, offers unmatched views across Lake Wakatipu. For those who want to experience jumping in the dark, moonlight jumps are offered in the winter.

The specially designed harness allows for flips and twists.

Flips, Twists, and Other Stunts Allowed

The Ledge has a “runway” so jumpers get a running start. This allows jumpers to pick up speed before they hurl from the edge 1312 ft. above Queenstown.

Those who are ready for more can do flips, twists and stunts. Try a swan dive, back flip, or something a little more challenging.

The special harness is designed to let you put your own “spin” on the thrill. Check out their jump menu for inspiration.

Kids Allowed

If you belong to a family of daredevils, kids are allowed, but jumpers must be at least 10 years old, and kids 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Minimum weight is around 77 pounds and maximum weight is 280 pounds.

Safety Record

If you’re ready to take the jump and your loved ones are worried for your safety, let them know The Ledge Bungy has more than 1 million jumps recorded in 20 years and have received the ‘S’ Mark for exceptional safety.

I would like to think that I game for this kind of rush, but I don’t know if I could actually make myself jump once I was there and all strapped in over a large abyss!
