Dream Stay: Perivolas Santorini

June 11, 2013 by

Perivolas Resort on the island of Santorini is a true escape; a one of a kind luxury hotel. It sits high on cliff walls overlooking the Aegean Sea and leaves you with the impression that you’re drifting off in a sweet dream.

The 17 splendid villas at Perivolas are restored from old caves that used to house local fisherman and farmers. The entire complex mimics an amphitheater, reducing outside noise and making you feel like you’re alone on this island with the exception of a few church bells and boat whistles.

Each individual room is built using local material and is structured with smooth surfaces, fine lines, arches and sky lights. Most rooms feature large open air windows and patios allowing for a refreshing Aegean breeze to cool down your residence.

The beds are nestled into welcoming alcoves and the whitewashed walls lend to a sense of clarity. There are no TVs or other distractions. Their goal at Perivolas is to offer a true escape where you can completely relax.

The pool, one of the main attractions, is an infinity pool that appears to fade into the  sea below, and the outdoor jacuzzi tub provides stunning views of a nearby volcano.

For dinner, delight in the flavors of Greece with locally prepared Greek dishes and tapas at the Perivolas restaurant. Enjoy a specialty cocktail or a bottle of some of the regions best wines and sit poolside under the star speckled sky.

A stay here is sure to recharge your mind and body. High season is May – September. In mid July prices range from 540€/night for a studio stay up to 980€ for the deluxe suite stay.

I’ve only been to Santorini once and I’d love to go again! There is no other view quite like it in the world.
