It’s About the Mud

The mud from the Boryeong Flats is used as an ingredient in cosmetics high in mineral content and is actually good for your skin. It’s a grayish-white mud rich in bentonitie, absorbent aluminum phyllosilicate, and Germanium.

Each year, mud is brought in from the Boryeong Flats by truck and dumped on Daecheon Beach just for his event.

The Boryeong Mud Festival offers the best of two worlds. It’s a unique opportunity to play in mud that’s actually good for you, and once you’ve had your fill of it, you can step into the surf and easily rinse off every trace of it as you frolic at the beach.
