Shop Sydney’s Markets

June 25, 2012 by

Sydney’s growing number of markets attract shoppers looking for something a little more unique than what you’ll find in the malls and boutique stores lining the streets of Australia’s bustling city. Farmer’s markets, Arts & Crafts, Artisan, Fashion and Pet-Friendly markets are just some of the types of open-air shopping that can be done in Sydney.

If you’re in Sydney for business or pleasure, be sure to check out some of the more popular markets, which generally take place on Saturdays and Sundays around town. Markets in The Rocks, Rozelle, Bondi, Surry Hills and Paddington are the most popular, but smaller markets can be found using a local market guide. You’ll find expensive trinkets, hand-me-down duds and budget-friendly home decor among the goods sold at these markets.

Sydney’s most popular market, Finder’s Keepers, is only for the lucky few who happen to be in the city during the bi-annual event. Contemporary art and goods made by Australian artists deck out the CarriageWorks space.

Finder’s Keepers is proud to be a place where emerging artists and artisans can showcase their work and build their careers, and definitely worth checking out if you’re in Sydney during the two weekends a year that the market is held. Free events, live music and good food are all reasons to make the trek for this great market as well.

I’ve always wanted to go to Australia, and I wouldn’t miss these kinds of open-air markets when I get there! Looks like a lot of fun.
