Telluride Bluegrass Festival

August 27, 2013 by

If camping in the glorious San Juan mountains of Colorado, and listening to non-stop bluegrass sounds like a good weekend, then the Telluride Bluegrass Festival needs to be on your destinations list.

For forty years, this 4 day festival has made it’s way back to Telluride, Colorado. People have been coming here for years…they call them selves festivarians. Those who visit for the first time gloat about coming back the next year.

Bands from all over the country descend into the valley and play their chords. The sound is almost magical, reverberating all around, and echoing off the jagged mountain tops.

If you need a break from the music scene, take a hike up to Cascade Falls, Colorado’s highest falls. Its trailhead is just behind the main stage.

Four day tickets cost $195, and $50 for a guaranteed camp space. Many of the local hotels and lodges offer discounted room rates for festival goers for those who prefer a more luxurious nights rest.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Colorado festival without green initiatives. Planet Bluegrass takes to the scene every year providing sustainable solutions like renewable energy, carbon offsets, and waste reduction.

Visit Telluride Bluegrass for more information and purchase your ticket for the next fest.
