The historic town of Gettysburg, PA makes an ideal vacation destination for families, couples, or anyone interested in the history of this famous locale. Here, the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg took place, and President Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address.

Visitors to this town can see the battlefields, monuments, historic inns and taverns, and many other history-rich locations. Those interested in the spookier side of this town can also take paranormal tours and opt to stay in some of the haunted inns around town.

When visiting Gettysburg, there are a myriad of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Take house tours, participate in a living history demonstration, go on a guided battlefield tour, visit one of the many museums and stroll down the old streets of town to stop by shops and eateries.

At night, be sure to dine at one of the historic restaurants serving period fare like the Farnsworth House Inn Restaurant, the Fairfield Inn or the Dobbin House Tavern.

After a long day of exploring the battlefields or taking an underground railroad tour, opt to rest at one of Gettysburg’s best hotels. Many of the hotels in the area have period decor with an upscale twist. Stay at the Gettysburg Hotel (pictured above), Federal Point Inn or the Battlefield Bed and Breakfast.
