A visit to the French Rivera is a dream destination, and the city of Nice, France, is an ideal location to stay with a large selection of luxury hotels, bed and breakfasts, and hostels to choose from.

Nice is situated on the Baie des Anges (Bay of the Angels) and offers fishing, swimming, sailing and boating Mediterranean style.

Nice France enjoys warm, dry weather, and features long beaches lined with restaurants and boat rental shops. As a result, many of the things to do in Nice, France center around the beaches.

The Promenade des Anglais is a walkway built in the 1830s that stretches along the Mediterranean and is still popular with visitors who want to enjoy a leisurely walk along the water.

While many tourists travel to Nice France to enjoy time at the beach, it is important to note that the long beach in Nice is not sandy, but a pebble beach which extends for miles.

For those who prefer a sandy beach, the beaches in Antibes and Juan les Pins are nearby.

Attractions in Nice

While some may not consider shopping an attraction, a visit to the outdoor market in the old city is worth a visit. Here visitors can buy crisp local fruits and vegetables and fresh flowers at a reasonable price.

Nice also offers a chance to experience history with a visit to the Cathedrale Ste-Reparate, a famous 17th century Baroque church, or the Cathedrale Orthodoxe Russe St-Nicolas, a Russian Orthodox Cathedral  completed before the Russian Revolution.

And for those looking to get out of the sun for a little while, Nice offers a nice selection of museums including the Chagall Museum which features the world’s largest collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures by the artist Marc Chagall and has Matise’s 17 Biblical Message paintings on display.

Other museums to visit include The Musee des Beaux Arts (Fine Arts Museum), Massena Museum, Matisse Museum, Modern Art Museum, the Nice Natural History Museum, and the Picasso Museum.
