Zip lining in Costa Rica has become one of the country’s most popular activities. Zip lines composed of steel cables and a network of platforms are situated at various heights offering travelers the unique experience of zip lining above the canopy of remote natural areas.

While it is an exciting, adrenaline pumping experience, it’s also a unique learning experience as riders learn about ecology, botany, and reforestation practices. Due to the growing popularity of this exciting activity, zip lines in Costa Rica can be found around the country.

Here are a just a few of the canopy tours offered.

Costa Rica Zip Lining

  • Sky Trek Tours: This large tour incorporates more zip lines and platforms than most and includes longer trails and a series of suspension bridges. The tours last from 2-3 ½ hours. Along with the canopy tour, the Sky Trek tour also features a ride along the Sky Tram that provides a scenic ride up the mountain overlooking the rainforest. When you reach the top, you’ll meet your guides who will teach you proper technique and set you up with gear. Guides use a pulley system to decrease your speed so you don’t need to know how brake.
  • Hotel Punta Islita: The Hotel Punta Islita includes a 1½ hour zip line tour for two through the Costa Rican forest. It’s a fun opportunity to do something different on your honeymoon or couple’s getaway. Just sit in the harness, cross your legs, and pull your knees in and you’ll be ready for the exhilarating zip lining thrill.

This looks like a lot of fun to do on a vacation. Do you need to be in good shape to do this or can anyone do it?
