Bells Diner Montpellier

Bells Diner in Bristol is nestled in the backstreets of Bohemian Montpellier where Chef/owner Chris Wicks serves up modern gourmet food in a casual, down-to-earth atmosphere.

It’s a popular and respected eating establishment known to serve up a unique menu selection. If you’re not sure what you want, you can try their 8- course “taster” menu which lets sample a little bit of everything along with six glasses of wine.

Warm Décor with Historic Elements

The building that houses Bells Diner has an interesting history. It’s a converted 1950s baker’s shop. As part of the décor, the diner has preserved all the fixtures and fittings from that prior life in its front room.

There you’ll still find a painted advertisement for Victoria self-rising flour on a ceiling support. These historical design elements add a nice touch that complements the overall blend of muted blue walls lined with wine racks, cluttered shelving and cupboards.

This unique eclectic design style welcomes patrons with a cozy feel. The fact that this first room is small and only houses seven tables adds to this ambiance.

A second room provides more seating, but its white walls stand in contrast to the front room. While the white room is more modern, it does overlook the courtyard.

A third room has the feel of an old farmhouse with dark varnished floorboards and fireplace. Here, patrons can sip their drinks before dinner.

Fine Dining at Bells Diner

While the name Bells Diner sounds more like a hamburger joint, it is nothing of the sort. This restaurant is known for its fine dining and eclectic cuisine. It is best described as British with a Mediterranean flare.

The menu is imaginative and offers fascinating blends and groupings. While the menu varies from day to day, dishes always include organic and local produce.

If you can’t make up your mind as to what to order, but aren’t up for the 8-course taster option, you can always order a few items from the a la carte menu to create your own sampler.
