Churn Ice Cream

If you plan a visit to Phoenix, there’s no better place to cool off from the Southeastern heat than the Churn ice cream parlor. When you walk into the place the hand-churned ice cream is just part of the retro charm they offer.

While the décor and even some of the goodies they serve are reminiscent of the 50s, you’ll find a whole host of modern day flavors from Madagascar Vanilla to Whiskey Toffee Almond, and special touches like sundaes topped with toasted marshmallows.

And they do it all with “lots of love and zero phony stuff.”

Ice Cream Treats

Churn offers a fantastic selection of hand crafted ice cream treats. You can even mix two flavors in a single scoop!

Flavors rotate daily, and from them you can create a customized ice cream cookie sandwich by choosing your ice cream flavor and type of cookies.

Sundaes run on the big side and include selections like the “kitchen sink” with includes peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, toffee sauce, chocolate pretzels, butterscotch chips, and is topped with whip and peanuts.

They also serve milkshakes, floats and Lil’ Freezies.

Old Fashioned Candies and Toys

In keeping with their retro theme, Churn also sells old fashioned candies you probably haven’t seen for years. Nostalgic candies include old fashioned taffy, Necco Wafters, Sour Cherry Balls, Candy Buttons, Pixy Stix, Smarties, Atomic Fireballs, and more.

Along with candy from the past you’ll find toys from yesteryear like army men, yoyos, jax sets, and dominos.

The treats at Churn aren’t limited to ice cream and candy. They also offer a selection of pastries and cookies baked fresh each day. The selection rotates daily and make a great takeaway to enjoy the following day.

No matter what you’re in the mood for, be prepared for your “eyes to be bigger than our stomach” because servings are generous. And while its roots may be old fashioned, they are a trendy and upbeat establishment located right along Central Avenue.
