Eat Here: Portobello, Portland

July 18, 2013 by

Portobello Vegan Trattoria was opened in 2008 by a local Portland couple wanting to bring healthy, affordable meals to your mouths. Since then, they’ve taken off! They’ve moved into a bigger location, and won the 2012 Bronze Award by VegNews for Best Fancy Vegan Restaurant.

This upscale vegan restaurant brings quality, meat free meals that highlight the hard work of local farmers. The menu changes frequently with the seasonal availability of produce, but the mouth watering flavors remain a constant.

The dinner menu is diverse with pizzas, salads, burgers, and main plates, each one offering a unique ¬†and individual flavor. Try the English Pea Ravioli with Morels, or the Cauliflower Steak a la Plancha and you’ll forget you’re not eating meat. Main plates cost between $8-14.

For drinks, they have an extensive list of house infused liquors like Peach Rye, and Elderberry Gin as well as non-alcoholic house made sodas, like Hibiscus Vanilla Pop.

Portobello’s offers dinner Tuesday – Saturday, and an increasingly popular brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday. The “up-cycled” furnishings were created by local green woodworkers and feature the reuse of an old Portland barn.

The intimate setting is perfect for a date, but casual enough for a night with friends. Reservations are recommended on the weekend.

Save room for the daily special dessert.
