La Trompette opened in London in 2001 and since then, they’ve been bathed in accolades for their superb food, delightful ambiance, and a friendly staff that caters to every need, even when the party includes picky children.
Such tributes are a reflection of the care the restaurant invested in developing their entire team. They were awarded a Michelin star in 2008.
Refurbished in 2013
In 2013 La Trompette closed for a complete refurbishment. During that time they expanded to include a brand new kitchen, improved customer dining facilities, and added a light-filled room for private dining.
The new décor offers a more contemporary and less stuffy feel with blacks contrasting with vivid colors, gold textiles, and funky paintings by Vince Poole. While returning patrons will notice the different look, they’ll find the focus of the restaurant has not changed. They still aim to give guests the best possible dining experience.
La Trompette is considered one of the best values for the money in London. Guests will find options like squid with ink risotto, deer, pig, or roast Yorkshire grouse with creamed white polenta.
For those looking for seafood, they offer a fillet of sea bass with pumpkin gnocchetti, brown shrimps, and clams.
For dessert, chocolate pavé with milk ice cream and roast hazelnut praline, burnt vanilla cream with figs or one of their other creative sweet treats. Foods are well presented with an excellent array of complementary ingredients.
This represents just a handful of the delicious options so be sure to check out their menu online to help decide what you’re going to try.
To say the La Trompette’s wine list is wide ranging is an understatement. They earned the Sommelier’s Award “Wine List of the Year 2011” with their diligently sourced 600-bin wine list with selections designed to please locals as well as out of town guests.
This list reflects the fact that La Trompette’s head sommelier, Matthieu Longuere, understands his customers.
La Trompette’s impeccable service, perfect classic French cuisine, quaint surroundings and affordable prices make it one of the best restaurants and sommeliers in London.
