If you happen to be in Vicenza, Italy, make sure you make time to visit Borsa Bar.

Vicenza, Italy is most well known for Andrea Palladio, the famous architect who built the Basilica Palladio in the heart of now downtown Vicenza. The beautiful structure is stunning to see, with it’s two story pillars and Gothic influences.

As you walk around the Basilica at night, underneath the archways, you’ll hear a light buzz of people talking and jazz playing. Down the center archway lies Borsa Bar and Ristorante, hidden away like a speakeasy.

Covered by the tall arches but exposed to the fresh Italian breeze are tables and chairs on cobblestone, with an indoor seating area to either side of them. On one side is the jazz bar with a grand piano comfortably seated in the back.

The walls are adorned with images of famous jazz players and local musicians alike, and the wood top bar is dotted with fresh pastries and spirits of all types. On the other side, a more low key, lounge bar with couches and books that encourage a brainy conversation.

The tapas style menu includes “Selection of Sliced Meats, Velvety Asparagus Soup, ¬†and Beef Cheek with Cabernet,” while their desserts include “Chocolate Flan, and Tiramisu.”

The atmosphere alone is enough to have you feeling dreamy and nostalgic. Enjoy a tapas, a cocktail, or an espresso on a Friday night and listen to some soothing sounds of jazz. You don’t want to miss this place.
