VAU Restaurant in the Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin

June 17, 2011 by

In the center of the renovated, historical center of Berlin, the Gendarmenmarkt – one of the most gorgeous squares in Europe, is the Restaurant VAU.

This restaurant has been the recipient of awards since it’s opening, including a Michelin star and 17 Gault Millau points.

The VAU in Hunter Street at the Gendarmenmarkt was the one place where the politically active intellectuals were invited to have elite discussisions and talks 200 years ago. The current capital offers plenty of issues to continue this tradition in the same place. Restaurant Manager Petra Kleeberg stands for this kind of hospitality, for “eating with friends like friends.”

The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday with a daily changing selection of courses and desserts. Some menu items include: Fried Cod, Pink Rib Eye, Fried Dumplings and Sour Cream Tart.
