Vedge is a top-of-the-line modern vegetarian restaurant run by Chefs Richard Landau and Kate Jacoby, formerly of Horizons. Chefs Landau and Jacoby are well-known for presenting a number of mid-size plates created with s a fresh approach to cooking vegetables.
Presentation is meticulous and the dishes delicious enough that meat eaters might not even realize they are eating vegetarian! This unique eatery is situated in the historic Tiger Building on Locust Street, in Philadelphia where it offers a classical chic vegetarian dining experience as well as a bar.
The Vedge Menu
Even skeptics who think you have to have meat for a complete meal will enjoy ordering dishes like Smoked Eggplant Braciole, Salt-Roasted Golden Beets, Wood-Grilled Maitake Mushrooms or Grilled Seitan.
Those in the mood for something on the lighter side might want to try the Roasted Rutabaga Salad, or perhaps something like the Cauliflower and Romanesco Soup.
And for dessert, the Chocolate Uber Chunk is a favorite created in a pretzel crust with malt custard and stout ice cream, but the dessert menu offers a nice variety to suit a number of tastes.
Special Dietary Requests
For those with special dietary restrictions or preferences The Vedge is happy to accommodate their needs. They have gluten and soy-free menus on hand and if you call ahead they are happy to accommodate less common requests, too.
Needless to say, Vedge doesn’t serve up ordinary vegetarian fare. It stands alone in a culinary league of its own.
The format is modern but warm and welcoming with designer lighting and warm knotty hardwood floors. The food served is a truly delicious culinary experience and a perfect stop for anyone vegetarian or not.
Dress is smart casual, but if you want to dress up for a special occasion, you won’t feel out of place.
