Zuma Hong Kong

February 18, 2011 by

Zuma is located at Hong Kong’s most prestigious address, The Landmark, in the heart of Central. It brings a sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese Izayaka style of informal eating and drinking.
Complemented by a terrace in a surrounding garden on level 5, a dramatic spiral staircase joins the two levels, which brings customers to level 6, the Lounge & Bar.
The restaurant is designed by Noriyoshi Muramatsu of Studio Glitt in collaboration with Tokyo design firm Super Potato, the restaurant on level 5 is reminiscent of a Japanese garden with an open plan natural stone kitchen.
The main dining area offers a variety of seating options in a space which is dominated by the open plan kitchen featuring natural stone and glass. At the Robata Counter, a fine selection of meats, poultry, seafood and seasonal vegetables are grilled over charcoal and served with Zuma’s signature sauces. The Sushi Counter offers a variety of market fresh sashimi, nigiri and maki sushi. Adjacent to the open kitchen, two private dining rooms are available, seating up to 8 and 12 diners, offering a full view of the chefs practicing their crafts. The restaurant is complemented by a terrace seating up to 36 in a surrounding garden, which is a perfect venue for a small cocktail gathering. The lounge and bar offers the same menu as Zuma restaurant during lunch and dinner hours, with a variety of relaxed soft seating areas. The Sake Bar offers over 40 different varieties of sake together with an extensive range of alluring cocktails, many of which blend freshly prepared fruit juices with sake and Japanese spirits. Ideal for gatherings, the semi-private room is the perfect place which accommodates up to 25 people. The wine cellar of Zuma includes over 2,000 bottles and 10 vintage wines served by the glass.
The menu of Zuma is comprehensive and alluring. The dishes are authentic but not traditional with bold, intense flavors and an emphasis on simple presentation acquired through quality ingredients.
