January Is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month in 30 States

January’s Learn to Ski & Snowboard initiative is the perfect opportunity for skiers to have fun and save some money in the process.

Ski areas and resorts in 30 different states are taking part in this initiative and are offering deals to encourage those who want to learn how to ski or snowboard to come give it a try. It’s also a great opportunity for those who want to improve their skills with lessons for beginners all the way up to advanced skiers

Aside from the ski resorts, there are more than 400 ski areas scattered throughout the 30 states. These areas offer easy access to acres of slopes, miles of lifts, quality lodging, dining and other things to do for entertainment.

Kids Ski/Ride Free

Specials offer a chance to enjoy a ski holiday and save money. Deals offered vary and for families a number of states feature specials for school-age kids called “Passport” Programs. In most cases, parents pay a small fee for a passport booklet that features a variety of free offers.

For example, the Ski Utah Fifth Grade Passport lets kids ski or snowboard three days for free at each of Utah’s 14 resorts. It also offers savings on equipment rentals and other activities.

Ambassador and Champions Programs

For those who already love skiing and boarding, the Ambassador and Champions program rewards you when your friends sign up for ski or snowboard lessons. Ambassadors are adults age 18 or older, and Champions are youth between 13 and 17.

Ambassadors and Champions who have three newcomer friends sign up for lessons will have the opportunity to win state-of-the-art jackets from The North Face and more.

Since the participating ski areas and resorts are spread across 30 states, visit the  Learn to Ski & Snowboard website to find what deals are available nearest you. Specials may include lodging, some meals, group lessons, equipment rental and more.

Specials do vary so take your time to find the deal that best suits your needs by using the resort/retailer search tool.
