Experience the Wilderness on Skis

For those who love the great outdoors and a chance to wander from the beaten path, Sugarbush offers unique opportunities with their Tree Skiing and Riding Workshop, plus a list of other programs.

Professional coaches and guides take skiers and riders into the wilderness to experience the backcountry first hand. These workshop tours are available through the Sugarbush Ski and Ride School, and are only held on weekend and holiday mornings when conditions are safe.

Groups are limited to six people and reservations are required.

Snowshoe Tours

Snowshoeing has gained in popularity over the last few years, and it’s a great way to experience the tranquil woods in the winter months.

Two types of snowshoe tours are available: self-guided or guided. Both give snowshoers access into the Slide Brook Wildlife Management Area. While spotting wildlife is rare, there’s a chance to see tracks, scarred trees, and to pick up the sounds of the forest.

Snowshoe tours are for those 13 years of age and older, but those who are under 18 must have a signed released.

Extreme Skiing for the Adventurous

If you are an experienced skier looking for thrills and adventure, come to Sugarbush to ski with extreme skier John Egan. John is a coach and mountain guide who has been devoted to Sugarbush all his life.

Private coaching includes things like cliff jumping, tree skiing, and ski mountaineer. Of course, you can choose less challenging goals, too.

Sugarbush Vermont offers classic New England trails and plenty of places to stay. Dining choices range from casual to elegant, and the Ski and Ride School includes programs for first timers as well as for those who want to improve their skills.

No matter where you start, Sugarbush offers a wide range of fun in the snow.
