Busbud is a Canadian startup company that claims to be the “Kayak for intercity bus travel.” They are backed by venture and angel investors and completed a first round of financing in May 2013, totaling $1.2 million.

BusbudMakes Inner City Travel Easier Around the World

Busbud is a free mobile application that connects travelers with bus operators in more than 4,000 cities in 70 countries around the world along with 15 currencies to make bus travel easy.

Busbud.com technology puts information in the hands of users to compare and book city-to-city bus tickets anywhere in the world. Nothing like it has ever been offered. It works much the same way as Kayak and Expedia as it gathers and disseminates information, only instead of hotels and airline tickets, it features the most comprehensive source for city-to-city bus schedules.

“Busbud is the first service to offer travelers comprehensive access to worldwide bus schedules and ticketing. In a context where the bus industry is largely fragmented, this provides for huge opportunity.”– Chris Arsenault, iNovia Capital

Find Bus Schedules and Buy Bus Tickets

At this time, Busbud has deals with a good number of operators to gain direct access to bus schedules and to sell tickets directly. However, Busbud often directs users to individual bus company sites to purchase tickets at this time.

The company hopes to change that in the near future by making it possible for users to buy more tickets directly through the service. Busbud is quickly becoming the go-to tool for bus travelers in the world. They do have some competition here and there around the world, including here in the U.S. with GoToBus.com.

While riding the bus may not seem the most romantic way to travel, it is the mode of transportation that connects many cities and is one of the best ways to get around the inner city.
