Just Say No to Hitchhiking Bed Bugs

April 24, 2012 by

Ewww. Bed bugs are gross. Bed bugs are disgusting. Bed bugs are everywhere. Seriously, when you travel around, it’s not a matter of if you’ll come across them, it’s when. So be prepared, or at least as prepared as you can be, because they’re sly suckers.

Check out Pronto Plus, a bed bug spray that helps you not get them…though if you do get them, that’s a whole ‘nother story, as they say.

Here are some tips for spotting bed bugs while traveling:

1. Inspect. If you can, leave the bags outside the door when you get there. Look around the edges of the mattress, any piping of sofas or large furniture. You aren’t looking for critters as much as digested blood (eewwww) which is brown, not red.

2. Get high. As in, use the luggage rack that is typically set up in hotel rooms. Getting your bag off the floor or away from any upholstered surface will help keep your bag bug free.

3. Wash up. When you get home, wash your clothes with hot water or dry on the high setting. If you can’t do this, then take them to the dry cleaners.

The last thing you want is little buggies (or their eggs – gross) hitchhiking a ride in your stuff.

Now, you will have to balance your need to stay bug free against the idea of spraying chemicals willy nilly on surfaces that you mash your face into, like your pillow. I don’t know what chemicals are in Prono Plus, but if it works, it works.

And by the way, you can pick up Pronto Plus at your nearest Walmart.
