Plane Necessities

Plane Race

Traveling by plane isn’t very comfortable. You’re crammed into small spaces, breathing dry air, and forced to sleep upright. Fortunately, you can bring a few staple items to make your plane travel a little more tolerable.

1. Chapstick: Keep your kissers soft and lubricated to prevent uncomfortable chapped lips. Try the Nuetrogena Naturals with vitamin E for long lasting comfort.

2. Bottled Water: Fill your own bottle or purchase a large one just before stepping on the plane to avoid ringing your attendant over and over for more water.

3. A Scarf: These handy fashion items are multifunctional. Use them to cover up your shoulders or legs if you’re feeling a bit chilly, cover your eyes when trying to rest, or simply wear normally and make a statement at your destination.

4. Instant Coffee and Tea Packets: Let’s face it, it’s not Starbucks coffee up there, and it’s not very good. Bring your own favorite flavors and ask for hot water instead. Guard your cup because your neighbor might steal some. Try Trader Joe’s instant packs or Starbucks Via.

5. Dried Fruit: Flying can wreck havoc on your gut, and air foods rarely pack a lot of vitamins and minerals. Stay healthy and keep your stomach happy and moving steady with high fiber dried fruits. Mix them with nuts for a satiating snack.

That’s a great idea about bringing your own tea. I’ll do that next time. I always bring a trail mix with me; the first time I wasn’t sure I could bring in through security, but I’ve actually never had a problem. Go figure.
