Travel Translator

translateEver stood beneath a sign in Europe and wondered “Wait, what does that mean?”

If you’ve ever been lost abroad, you understand that feeling. If only you could travel with a translator, a language guide to help you fully experience the delights of another country…or at least help you find your way when you’re lost.

Now, more than ever, there’s a host of translator apps you can download right to your smart phone (or tablet) and carry along just like your personal language assistant.

Try Google Translate (free, iOS and Android), Talking Phrasebook, ($1, iOS and Android), or Vocre1.1 ($5/month, iOS).

Google Translate features 63 languages and can convert both text and spoken language. Talking Phrasebook provides over 500 common phrases, in 500 lauguages, to help you get by (“Where is the bathroom?”). Vocre translates your spoken text into the selected language text.
