What’s in Your Travel Beauty Bag, Liz?

Editor’s Note: We asked our writers to put together a list of their favorite beauty items while traveling. Now, we’re sharing all their travel-savvy wisdom with you. Check back each week to see a new list of beauty items our writers won’t leave home without.

When I travel, I like to keep things as simple as possible, and that includes my makeup routine. I tend to stock up on multitaskers and products in travel-handy packaging. I also gravitate towards makeup that doesn’t require brushes to cut down on clutter. Here’s a look inside my travel beauty bag.

Dr. Jart+ BB Cream: BB creams are pretty new on the makeup scene, but I’ve been a fan ever since I found out about their all-in-one attributes. This one is a moisturizer, light foundation, treatment serum and SPF 25. It comes in one universally flattering shade that works even if you’re fair like me, and you only need a pea-sized amount. A must for my go bag.

Stainiac by TheBalm: This stain gives a buildable rosy tint to lips and cheeks, and since it’s a water-based gel, you have plenty of time to move the product around before it sets, so you don’t end up looking streaky.

Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes: These are great as a refresher throughout the day or for wiping off makeup before bed.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Shadow Pencils: I like my makeup to be bulletproof, and these pencils don’t disappoint. Plus, they can be applied along the lash line as a liner or smudged all over the eye as a shadow (but you have to work quickly before they set).

Blinc Mascara: This formula actually forms small tubes around your lashes instead of painting them, so you’ll never wind up with smudges or raccoon eyes. When you want to remove them, wet your lashes and wiggle your fingers at the base to release them.

Korres Mango Butter Lipstick in Natural Pink: This lipstick is super moisturizing and has a slight natural pink color that makes lips look just a little made up.

Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner: Once this is on, it’s staying on. And I love the unexpected blue color; it’s been a staple in my summer makeup wardrobe.

Sephora Waterproof Black Eyeliner: A staple.

Essie 3-way Glaze: It strengthens and works as a top and base coat. I love polish, but hate managing chips when I’m on the go. This clear coat gives my tips a brilliant sheen that works no matter what part of the planet I’m on.

Josie Maran Argan Oil: I got hooked on argan oil when traveling Morocco, where it’s referred to as “liquid gold.” It works wonders as a moisturizer, can be smoothed over hair to combat frizz and repair split ends and even has anti-aging properties. I keep a tiny vial in my bag (a few drops go a long way) for trips and refill it when I get back home.

EOS Lip Balm: This balm is super moisturizing, and the egg-shaped packaging makes it easy to find in a hurry.

I like this article theme and look forward to the others. There are some great product suggestions here, and the products look small enough to travel well — a must for me.
