Not everything on Paradise Island needs to cost you an arm and a leg. Step outside the hotel grounds and you’ll find plenty of food and shopping options that provide affordable trinkets and flavors.

One place you don’t want to miss is the Potter’s Cay, a collection of seafood shacks under the Paradise Island Bridge, on the downtown side. Right below this enormous structure’s cement blocks sit several pop up shacks run by the local natives. Fisherman bring in their catch here every day and the skilled chefs prepared the most delicious Atlantic seafood you’ve ever had.

Try the conch fritters or the conch salad for a taste of the locals’ favorite. Most items run less than $10, so you can save your pretty pennies for a fancy hotel dinner. Take a stroll across the bridge in the afternoon for stunning views of Paradise Island and downtown Nassau and top it all off with the freshest seafood on the island.

Sounds delicious! And without these kinds of traveler’s tips, I wouldn’t know about it. I’m sure otherwise I might hesitate at eating somewhere that popped up under a concrete bridge!
