Everybody loves pizza, and every town has a slew of pizza restaurants, so being named “Salida’s Favorite Wood-Fired Pizza” is a big deal for a small town.

Located at the base of the San Isabel mountains, Salida, Colorado, is home to world class mountain bikers, road riders, snowboarders and kayakers. It’s also home to several small scale restaurants with big flavors. This includes Amícas, Pizza and Microbrewery.

It’s a locals spot with a group friendly atmosphere. Inside you’ll find welcoming Colorado natives and transplants, sharing their favorite pizzas and beers after a long day shredding the mountains.

The menu offers 15 different gourmet pizzas as well as bountiful salads, crispy panini’s, and fat calzones. A locals favorite, the Isla Pizza with balsamic marinara, capocollo ham, caramelized onions, pineapple, and mozzarella is a slice of heaven. If you like heat, their house made spicy oil is guaranteed to get your taste buds fired up.

Accompany your meal with one of Amícas small batch brews, like their “Endurer Sour Ale,” or the “Bomber Blonde.” If your lucky enough to catch it in season, the “Green Chili Ale,” is another locals favorite you don’t want to miss. For a non-alcoholic treat, try their High Pine Root Beer.

The budget friendly pies run between $7-10 and a beer costs between $3-6.

It’s easy: walk in, order your pie, and sip a brew while you wait and talk about your epic day in the mountains. If you like it enough, order a take and bake, or a beer growler to go.
