Thrill seekers have enjoyed all the roller-coaster and water rides at Carowinds Theme Park for years, but the new Dinosaurs Alive! Attraction offers brand new fun for guests of all ages.
The Dinosaurs Alive attraction captures the imagination and fascination of guests with 30 animatronic dinosaurs that come to life in a spectacular outdoor forest setting. It’s like stepping back in time to visit the earth from 65-245 million years ago.
The attraction starts from the beginning of the Age of Dinosaurs and provides the excitement of tail thrashing, clawing, and roaring of these monstrous beasts. But it’s more than a display. Dinosaurs Alive provides an interactive experience that engages guests in a unique learning experience.
State-of-the-art technology and art bring these animatronic creations to life in full-sized majesty with both movement and sound, and many of the scenes are recreated from fossil evidence that depicts behavior and diversity among these behemoths.
These fossil-based scenes recreate historical events like an attack by a pack of Deinonychus on a single Tenontosaurus, and an adult and adolescent Tyrannosaurus Rex stalking a Triceratops. Kids of all ages will also thrill at the sight of massive hadrosaurs as they learn about how these gigantic reptiles lived in herds numbering in the hundreds and even thousands even as they shared their world with predators.
Fast Lane Passes
Dinosaurs are just one attractions at Carowinds Theme Park. With 13 roller coasters in one park, plus water rides, Planet Snoopy and more, the lines can get long.
To make the most of your time at the park, Fast Lane wristbands can be purchased to bypass the regular lines on 12 rides and attractions. Fast Lane Passes are limited, though, so make your purchase early. Lines are shorter if you visit the park during the week.
If you must visit on the weekend, lines are usually shorter on Sundays versus Saturdays.
Be sure to measure your kids before your visit. Height restrictions are strictly enforced at the Carowinds Park. Nothing ruins a day at the Carowinds amusement park like having your child told they can’t ride the Rip Roarin’ Rapids at the last minute!
